The Middle East is an area where vehicle is king and fuel is inexpensive, typically leaving little reward to find more environmentally-friendly methods of moving around.
But this year, as protests across the Middle East have risen the cost of oil, the problem of discovering alternative sources of fuel has actually entered into sharp focus.
In an area that has among the greatest carbon footprints worldwide, one service is making the most of the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing profitable too, currently their client-list contains McDonald's.
