Now, let's understand the requirements for walnut Cultivation In India. Jammu and Kashmir are the biggest walnut producing states in India. Some of the different varieties of walnuts in India are Opex Caulchry, Gobind, Eureka, Placentia, Wilson, Franquetfe, etc.

Walnut Farming in India - 

Climate - They are grown in Winter. It requires annual rainfall of 800 mm for proper growth and yield. 

Land Preparation - First of all, clear all the weeds from the soil. 

Propagation - Grafting and budding are used as propagation methods in walnut farming. Seeds are the most common method of replication; local walnut seedlings can be used as rootstocks.

Plant and Fertilizers -  In the field plant all the walnuts in squares; on hills, use contour planting.  Apply P and K for the first five years. In between walnut trees, green fertilizer plants such as vetch-sainfoin should be planted. 

Irrigation - Walnut requires a large amount of water to be cultivated. The crops should receive additional irrigation based on the weather, season, and soil moisture-holding ability.

Harvesting - Walnuts are harvested in September and November. When the nuts become mature, harvesting begins.
